ADAS Windshield Camera Calibration
What Is Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Windshield Camera Calibration?
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) work in part using a camera that is mounted to the windshield. If your windshield is being replaced, it is a crucial requirement that the camera is calibrated properly and returned to its original OEM settings. Otherwise, the ADAS systems will not function properly.
Types of ADAS Systems

Lane Keep Assist (LKA)
Brings the vehicle back into designated lines, if the driver has not used a turn signal to indicate a lane change.
Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
Notifies the driver with a sound and/or vibration if the vehicle is shifting lanes without signal.
Forward Collision-avoidance Assist (FCA)
Detects the distance between the driver’s vehicle and the vehicle in front and notifies the driver by visual and/or audio signal if they are following too close.
Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
Similar to the FCA, this system applies the brakes if the driver does not do so after receiving the warning of being too close to the vehicle in front of them.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
Automatically adjusts speed to keep a safe distance between the driver’s vehicle and the one ahead.
Types of Windshield Camera Calibration

Static Calibration
Static calibration is complex and must be performed within a controlled environment. Our certified technicians calibrate the camera, among other things, using sophisticated electronics, including a laser, to obtain absolute precision according to the predetermined standards of the vehicle manufacturer.

Dynamic Calibration
Dynamic calibration works with a portable electronic device that plugs directly into the vehicle's OBD II port. Calibration is performed according to the manufacturer's instructions such as driving at specific steady speed, specified distance and favorable weather conditions.
Have Questions? We Can Help.
My windshield has a camera, will it work after replacement?
Today's vehicles often incorporate Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS technologies), such as lane departure warnings, collision sensors, and automatic braking systems, all of which rely on precision alignment of sensors and a camera attached to the windshield. If these systems aren’t properly calibrated following a windshield replacement, it could result in malfunctioning safety features, potentially putting drivers and passengers at risk. Because of the critical role this system plays in safety, it is required that the camera is calibrated to return it to it's factory settings. If not calibrated correctly, these systems will not work properly. Contact your local Auto Glass Now for more details or a price estimate.
